Know for Yourself
If we know what we believe to be the truth, then of course it’s important to teach it to your children and even shout it from the rooftops. It’s better to have the truth than not, regardless of where we obtain it.
All that notwithstanding, if we were to be judged according to our belief or knowledge of the ‘truth’, are you eternally confident that you were taught by the right people? Does it excuse us if we were not?
True science challenges ideas. It doesn’t take a vote. It invites contradictory ideas to use any means possible to prove an idea wrong – the more the merrier – and acknowledges that the idea can never be proven right: just supported if the opposition has nothing better to offer.
